( 2.9 / 78 )checke the network card
Check the cable
possible bad cable or connection? can go to command prompt and perform "ping -t" to get a continuous ping response.. (use control + c to stop pinging)
Make sure the light by printer ethernet port is green
Turn off any port monitoring and/or network monitoring tools
Make sure that the copier is not getting excessive power spikes
Make sure the copier has a dedicated line
Make sure the wall outlet is rated correctly and is the proper voltage and current
Turn netware off if not being used.
Turn ipp off if not being used
Turn off Bonjour in the web interface.
If network is slowing down do this
Send a large PDF and watch the spooling progress in the print queue. If it starts out buzzing along at 2MB/second and then it slow down to 100KB/second, or stall altogether then after 30 seconds it goes Offline. Try this.... set FRPO J2 from default '6' (30 seconds) to '12' (60 seconds) in the Command Center, Printer, FRPO Settings, I/F Dependent. Then submit. In otherwords increase how long it takes for the copier to timeout when communicating

( 3 / 84 )| Now we are going to go into how to add a router to a
copier if you don't have a network person handy. There are
two methods. The first is called IP reservation. It
has many other names but the basic idea is that on the router
an IP address is mapped to the MAC address of the copier or
its print card. The second is called assigning a static IP
address. This involves assigning an IP address outside the
range of the DHCP server on your router or server. We are
going to explore the second. |
C:\Documents and Settings\admin>ipconfig Windows IP Configuration Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 3: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : launchmodem.com IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.55 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 C:\Documents and Settings\admin> The default gateway is always your routers Ip address. enter your router ip address into the url bar of your browser and hit enter... Logging in to a LinkSys Router. The username is either blank or "admin" and the default password is "admin". Logging in to a Netgear Router. The username is "admin" and the default password is "password". Logging in to a Dnynex Router. The username is "admin" and the default password is " " or blank. (For cisco this might not necessarily work) Logging in to a cisco Router. The username is "cisco" and the default password is "cisco". Logging in to a Trendnet Router. The username is "admin" and the default password is "admin". Logging in to a Most Belkin Routers. The username is " " and the default password is "admin". Now lets say you want to set your copier up with a static IP address. Your first step is to figure out whats the ip range of your router... lets use linksys as an example. By default on Linksys wireless routers, the DHCP IP address range is typically 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149 and addresses cannot end in 0, 1, or 255. Any fixed (static) IP address must be outside the DHCP server range. To find what IP addresses LinkSys assigns dynamically: 1. Start your Linksys administration program as you did in Step 5. 2. When you see Setup, select the DHCP tab and find Starting IP address. This is typically 192.168.1.50 or 192.168.1.100. Choose an IP address that is lower than the Starting IP address. This means that IP addresses you want to assign to devices, such as printers, need use an address in the range of 192.168.1.2 thru 192.168.1.99 or 192.168.1.150 thru 192.168.1.254 (assuming you are still using the default DHCP server range). |

( 2.9 / 59 )| Ok.... You are stuck at home on the weekend and you want to burn some ISO's to cd's and you want to make them bootable... I don't know maybe you want to install windows 7 or windows 2003 standard. Hey, it could happen. Ok... Now you are ready to burn... and you are like... ok... lets go use my cd burner xp or some other iso burner... and its all cool... Ok after killing 20 dvd's and 10 cds I can tell you what to not do and what to do... Oh did I mention I did this in 48 hours... yes... I am a sick bastard... ok... now here are your steps... |
| step 1. Install virtual pc... Just do it... then |
| step 2. Now for the then... Ok you next step
is to install an os in virtual pc so you are used to it... follow these
examples
and you will understand. Step 3. Now that you understand how to work virtual pc. Create an os and call it test. When the black screen comes up select CD and capture ISO... If your ISO is built ok... then everything should work if not then it will fail. Now you are wondering why is he telling me this after having me test a bunch of OS installs on Virtual PC. Simple, the time will come for you as it did for me that you will need to create a bootable cd and you will have done everything and the fool just wont boot. Its simpler to test your ISO in virtual pc than to go through 30 dvds... and yes the number did go up... I did that for dramatic effect... hold... while I put my eyes back in there sockets... ok... there... all done... Step 4. Now that you have a test bed for your ISO... Here is what you need to build a bootable ISO. The program you want to make into an iso and the boot file. Follow this tutorial on how to create a bootable cd. Ok Now that you know how to do it... lets download cdburner xp and make one... After you make it then you test it in virtual pc... if you got errors then the crap isn't working. By the way, you can use a program called magicdisc or you can use powerISO to mount an ISO on a virtual drive. Step 5. Ok now that you have done lots of testing and your bootable iso is working... now for the easy part... its only easy if you have this program. Its called ISO recorder. I know what you are thinking... no problem... I can find this online and do a great job... Wrong... if you search for this online... you will find a program thats called ISO recorder which should be called crap in the box recorder... just follow my link... TADA Step 6. At this point make sure you have a blank cd/dvd of the right length, instert it and then find your ISO right click on it and click "copy image to CD/DVD" and you are done... or you can mount the image and then use "copy cd to cd" this generally works better If you use roxio or nero or cd burner xp or anybody else... you have to do some serious crap adjustements... with ISO recorder its just point and shoot.... Sometimes Microsoft does good... I found the right ISO recorder while looking for Dreamspark.... and thats another story... |
