Create a user SMB with pass SMB (easy to remember - an IT engineer can change it, and then will have to read and follow these following steps to adapt it to the new user)
2. create a folder named SCAN
3. share the folder SCAN, and verify that all users have totalcontrol on the folder scan (right click on SCAN, Tab share/security, TOTAL CONTROL must be check for SMB user ...)
4. from another computer (if you have one), try to go on your IP with the folder, by connecting on this address with SMB suer, and SMB pass (=SMB !!) (e.g. //192.168.1.100/SCAN in the explorer of windows, and whe Windows asking you a user, type SMB, and pass SMB - if it is correct, normally, you'll done !
on the copier in the appropriate section enter
USER : SMB
PASS : SMB
PATH : SCAN
ADRESS of the server : 192.168.1.100

( 2.9 / 35 )(This setup is basically the same as Vista's Setup)
XP includes a built-in FTP service component that lets FTP clients connect to the machine and read or write files; however, this service doesn't install by default. To install the FTP service, perform the following steps:
1. Start the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs applet (go to Start, Control Panel, then click Add/Remove Programs).
2. Select Add/Remove Windows Components.
3. Select Internet Information Services (IIS), then click Details.
4. Select the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Service check box, then click OK.
5. Click OK to close all dialog boxes.
You can use the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Internet Information Services snap-in to configure the FTP service (go to Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, then click Internet Information Services). After the snap-in starts, expand the computer name, then expand FTP Sites. A Default FTP Site will have been added. Right-click Default FTP Site, then select Properties from the displayed context menu to set options such as Home Directory, accounts, and anonymous access. To stop the FTP service, right-click the FTP site and select Stop from the context menu; likewise, select Start from the context menu to restart the service.
A quick note it still may not automatically start on a reboot. Make sure the following services are set to autostart:
Administratuve Tools->Services
IIS ADministratrive Services to automatically start
FTP Publishing service to automatically start

( 3 / 29 )When servicing copiers keep a couple things in mind. Your job is to service the copier. You are not responsible for the customer's network. Your copier will exist on the network but your job is to make sure that the copier works, it can print and scan and do any other functions copiers do. When working on networks be sure to get permission from the person in charge. If the problem is the copier then isolate the issue to the copier and explain it and fix it. If the problem is the network then isolate the issue to the area of the network and explain it the best you can to IT and the resident in-charge non IT person.

( 2.9 / 28 )Ideally, you should install print drivers on each computer that you work on but there are cases where you need to install print drivers on a server and share it out. If you start having problems from the server where the copier starts mixing print jobs... instead of printing them one after the other then you need to set the driver to spool and if that doesn't work... try different drivers that are compatible until you get the desired results...

( 2.9 / 59 )When you need to get a copier operational. Start by cleaning up the copier. After you get it as clean as possible, then do a visual inspection. Look for obvious damage on the document processor, the main body, the finisher, the paper trays and any side doors that you can open.
After this is done, your next step is to test if the copier can make internal copies. Run a status report and check the colors. See if there are any lines, burnt smells or paperjams. Try resolving them if possible.
Then run copies from the plate glass. Try and get it to the best quality possible. Not getting there probably means you have to see if the laser is ok.
Next test the trays... see if you can make copies from each one. If you cannot then make a note and work on it later.
Test your document feeder, test your duplex unit and then try testing your finisher.
Next test if your copier can print and scan. If it cannot this might mean that it needs a firmware update. Try updating everything then try again. If this doesn't work then you got bad parts... try removing your scanner and then printing... or try removing your printer and then scanning...
make doubly sure that you have no ip conflicts...
write up a report with meter reads, how many times assemblies have been changed, condition of assemblies, recommendations on what needs to be done.
You can give this to your service manager or if you are doing this for yourself then make a log book and put this information in there for future reference.
